'Amapola' is a Spanish for 'poppy' meaning the genus Papaver. Papaver is a genus of 70-100 species of frost-tolerant annuals, biennials, and perennials native to temperate and cold region of Eurasia, Africa, and North America. The song Amapola is about this flower which was written by Spanish composer Joseph La Calle with Spanish lyrics although the English language lyrics were written by Albert Gamse.
