Ingredients: Taro root / Cheriya chembu – 5 (Peeled and cut into small pieces) Sardine - 3 big Garlic – 4 big cloves (Chopped) Ginger -1 big piece (Chopped) Onion - 1 small (Thinly sliced) Curry leaves Turmeric powder - ½ tbsp Red chilly powder - as per taste Fenugreek - ¼ tsp Hing / Asafoetida - 3-4 pinches Gambooge/ Kudampuli -3 (Washed and soaked for 30 minutes) Salt Oil Steps: Heat a clay pot and add coconut oil. Add fenugreek. Add onion, ginger, garlic and curry leaves. When the onion becomes golden, lower the flame and add turmeric powder. Sauté till the raw smell goes away. Add red chilly powder and sauté till the raw smell goes away. Add required water, salt and gambooge. Cover and bring it to a boil on high flame. Add fish and taro root. Cook covered on medium flame for another 10 minutes or till it is cooked. Add hing. Swirl the pan to mix well. Switch off. Enjoy the naadan mathi chembu curry with hot rice.
