Ingredients
Broken wheat - 2 cups(wash and soak the wheat in water for at least 6hrs)
Sugar - 4 cups.
Ghee - 3 cups.
Badam - as needed.
Cashew nuts - as needed.
Roasted coconut cuts - as needed.
Cardamom powder - ½ tbsp.
Cinnamon powder - 2 pinch.
Method
Grind the wheat with water in a blender in several batches. Strain the wheat milk using a strainer. Keep adding water to the strained mix and continue straining the mixture till you get a clear colored milk.
Add water equal to half the quantity of the wheat milk.
Heat a heavy bottomed pan. Add 1 cup of sugar. Add water just to soak the sugar. Sugar will melt into a red colored liquid as you continue to stir. Add the remaining sugar. Melt the entire sugar. Add 1/2 of ghee. Turn heat to medium. Add wheat milk to the sugar. Stir the mixture. Add the remaining ghee.
Keep stirring and make sure that the mix doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Once the mix reaches a thick consistency add a pinch of salt, cardamom powder, cinnamon powder and chopped nuts. Boil till it reaches a halwa like consistency. Switch off the flame.
Pour the halwa into a greased pan, let it cool completely. Cut into desired shapes and Enjoy!!! …...more
