Ingredients: Bread – 3 + 1 slices Wheat flour – 1 cup Grated coconut – 2 handfuls Salt Grated coconut Steps: Into a mixie jar, add wheat flour, 3 bread slices and two handfuls of grated coconut and pulse a few times. Dip a bread slice in a bowl of water and squeeze out the water. Add the wet bread to the powdered mixture and add salt. Pulse again. Set aside. Take the puttu maker/mould and add 2 tbsp grated coconut and 3-4 spoons of the prepared mixture followed by a layer of coconut. Repeat the same steps until the puttu maker is loosely full. Now add 2-3 cups of water in a pressure cooker, cover the cooker and remove the whistle. Place the puttu maker on the vent pipe at the top of the cooker and steam it on high flame. When the steam starts coming out of the puttu maker, do not switch off immediately. Wait for another 1 minute for the puttu to get cooked completely. Switch off the stove. Transfer the soft bread puttu to a plate. I like to have it with ghee. You may have with sugar or banana. Any bread can be used. -If you do not prefer to add coconut while preparing the bread-wheat flour mixture, add 2 bread slices as dry and 2 as wet.
